Ryan Fahey Joins The Team
by Joey Feith
I’m very pleased to announce that Ryan Fahey will be joining ThePhysicalEducator.com’s team as a blogger and resource consultant. Ryan is a very talented guy who is extremely passionate about physical education, health, and wellness. He’ll be helping out by creating health & wellness-related resources for the site. I asked Ryan to write a short post to introduce himself. So, without further ado…
First of all, welcome to ThePhysicalEducator.com! I am Ryan Fahey from Nova Scotia, Canada and I am happy to be able to share my core values as a leader in physical education and the field of health & wellness. I am currently a fitness instructor at St Francis Xavier University and am a personal trainer for both adolescents and adults. This is secondary to my pursuit towards a physical education teacher.
Receiving my teaching licensee in a few short months, I thought I would give you three statements which best describe my passion:
- I firmly believe that wellness is a dynamic word best described as a wheel. Every wheel which supports weight has to have a solid structure for the wheel to work well. I believe that each domain of wellness (social, mental, physical, spiritual, emotional & intellectual) are something we try to balance each day through our activities, careers and family lives.
- I am a strong believer in hard work. I believe that hard work is essential to a solid foundation of both leadership and success in the realm of education and quality of life. Whatever may be challenging for you I believe; offers you a chance to build and achieve new heights. I believe that “knowledge is power”. Simply stated, I believe that we have the power to achieve many “impossibilities” through education. A friend and professor once told me, “Ryan, you are responsible for your own education” and I adhere to that statement when building upon my health and physical literacy and over all ongoing education.
- Lastly, I believe that obesity is a pandemic. I feel impelled to write, educate and lead the way for positive change in our country and around the world. I want to continually shed light on issues surrounding obesity and I have a strong passion toward preventative medicine through physical activity, literacy, etc.
Now that you know more about me I want to emphasize that being a part of this team on ThePhysicalEducator.com is something I am truly proud of. This website has provided and will continue to provide PE teaching strategies, continual professional literacy offerings, offer insight from like-minded teachers around the world and allow you to navigate your way around a well established and passionate group of leaders through online communication to better our world through increased physical education.
