National PE Institute

Join Me at #NPEI2013

This summer I’ll be delivering my very first keynote speech at the 2013 National PE Institute in Asheville, North Carolina.

I can’t even express how excited I am to be there, and I really hope you can make it out. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love connecting with you via this blog or any other of’s social media outlets. However, nothing compares to actually getting to meet with teachers face-to-face, and I really can’t wait to do just that.

At the NPEI, I’ll actually be speaking three times. My keynote speech will be on how social media is revolutionizing the way teachers go about their professional development. I’ll be sharing the story behind how I came to launch and the impact my dedication to this site (and the community who visits it) has had on me as a professional.

I’ll also be leading two breakout sessions. The first will be on how teachers are using technology in their physical education classes in hopes of enhancing learning, improving assessment, and engaging their students.

In the second session, I’ll be sharing some tips/tricks on how to get started with social media for professional development. I’ll be sharing ideas on how to grow your professional learning network, build an online platform for your thoughts/ideas, and even how to get students, parents, and other community members to engage with your PE program online.

Outside of my presentations, I’m really excited to connect with you, go have lunch, and, potentially, lose to you at golf (I’m actually really, really bad at the sport, but I hear it’s something you cannot pass up on when in North Carolina).

I’ve had a year to prepare for the National PE Institute, and I’ve taken my preparation very seriously. The content I’m putting together for the conference is the best content I’ve ever developed and I really hope you can make it out.

You can learn more about the 2013 National PE Institute at their official website, on Facebook, or through their newsletter. Early bird registration ends on June 30, so take a look at what this year’s NPEI has to offer and make your decision quickly!

Full disclaimer: I was never asked to promote the NPEI in any way, shape, or form. I just really want to meet as many awesome members of the #physed community as possible, so that’s why I wrote this.

Hope to see you there!
