How I Teach: Osama Abujafar

The more I teach, the more I realize how lucky I am to be a part of the #physed community. Every day, I find myself being inspired and wowed by this group of amazing teachers from around the world. That’s why I’ve decided to take a second each week and highlight one of these incredible educators. This week’s post comes from a very passionate physical educator currently teaching in the United Arab Emirates:

Name: Osama Abujafar
Where Are You From: I am originally from Palestine (born in Germany, raised in Jordan)
Where Do You Teach: I teach at Greenfield Community School in Dubai-UAE
One word that best describes how you teach:

What apps/tools/resources can’t you live without?

I can’t imagine going to class with out my iPhone, since I use it for teaching, music, assessment, attendance, video, and timing.

Here are some of the Apps I use on a regular basis: Twitter, YouTube Capture, Edmodo, iMovie, Google Apps, and Keynote.

What do your #physed classes look like?

An engaging, fun, and creative environment. A place where students needs and requirements are met, where students have a big part on setting their goals and lessons outputs. The relationship between me and my students build on trust and I can say even love. We can’t wait to meet to every week to enjoy the learning journey, inspiring each other and challenging ourselves. I love my job as much they love PE!!

What’s the most unique thing about your teaching?

Differentiated, flipped classes where we work together, the students and myself, to plan and run PE classes and goals and using technology.

What’s the best teaching advice you’ve ever received?

We don’t teach kids to be players but future leaders, we don’t train them for a game or exercise, we prepare them for life with right tools!!
