Help your students explore and apply different movement concepts in physical education class with this set of 19 free Movement Concept Cards!
The Movement Concept Cards were designed to help your students discover and understand different movement concepts from SHAPE America’s National Standards & Grade-Level Outcomes for K-12 Physical Education!
The set includes over 19 printable cards which are divided into five separate categories:
The Relationships Movement Concept Cards help your students make sense of how to move in relationship to objects. Students can learn more about moving over, under, around, and through objects with the help of fun graphics, definitions, and examples for each!
The Levels Movement Concept Cards help your students better understand how low, medium, and high levels can affect movement in different ways. Each colourful card has a graphic representing its level as well as information on what that level can look like when applied to speed, force, and effort.
The Shapes Movement Concept Cards provide your students with visuals that will help them better understand how to create and hold various body shapes such as wide, narrow, curly, and twisted. Each card provides a brief description of the shape as well as an easy-to-remember cue to help students quickly remember how to create different shapes with their bodies!
The Actions Movement Concept Cards feature the P.E. Puppet People performing actions such as bending, curling, twisting, and stretching. Each card provides a definition of its action as well as an example of how that action word may be used in a physical activity setting.
Finally, the Pathways Movement Concept Cards showcase different pathway trajectories that can be applied in movement settings. The cards feature the P.E. Puppet People travelling along straight, curved, zigzag, and circular pathways in fun ways. Each card also includes a definition of the pathway on display as well as an example of the word being used in a physical activity setting.
